Any and all CB members aged 18 years or younger are welcome on the swim team. To join, a swimmer must be able to swim 25 meters continuously. To join pre-team, a swimmer must be able to independently propel his or her body forward at least 20 feet. Assessments for pre-team will be made June 18 at 10:30am. Unsure about joining the team? Try it for a week — free of charge — before making the commitment.

Swim team practice starts May 28; practice for the pre-team starts June 18.

To register or learn more, stop by to see our swim team committee members on Tuesday, May 28 or Thursday, May 30 from 4:45 pm to 7:30 pm. Registration is completed by paying swim team dues, by cash or check, and signing up for 5 volunteer jobs. If you are unable to complete 5 volunteer jobs, a volunteer opt-out option is available for $200.

Registration closes June 7, except for pre-team swimmers.

Swim team dues for the season are $140 for one swimmer in the family, $225 for two, or $310 for three or more swimmers in the family.

The summer season is just around the corner and now is a great time to renew your membership or join Connecticut Belair Club. We’re accepting new members for the 2013 season.

The club will hold Open Houses this weekend, so come on by! Members, bring your friends or neighbors and get a referral reward if they join. The membership form is available here.

Do you have questions about being a member? Folks will be available to walk around the club and show you our wonderful summertime oasis.

Dewinterizing (yes, I just made up that word) is underway and the pool should be sparkling clean in time for our May Open Houses. Come up and see what’s going on!

Open Houses will be held from 12-4 pm on Saturday, May 11; Saturday, May 18; and Sunday, May 19.

And as you think about the summer, consider getting more involved at CB. Interested in participating in a tennis ladder? Want to learn how to play bocce on our new court? Let’s have a tournament and compete for fun and “prizes”! Come to a Potluck dinner and enjoy a summer evening under the stars with family and friends. Have your kids join the swim team!

There is a lot to do at CB, so join in! We could also use folks to help organize these events too. If you are interested, please leave a note in the comments. And, if you have a good idea about something to do at the pool, leave a note about that too!

Election ballots will be distributed to members approximately August 16 and will be due no later than 12 noon on August 26. Election results will be announced at the Annual General Membership meeting on August 26 at 4 pm on the Snack Shack Patio.

News flash: If Montgomery County is going to cancel* our fireworks fun, then at least CB can do is to stay open for you until 8 pm. So, now that your plans have been squashed, stick around and relax by the pool.

As usual, we will be hosting all your favorite activities at CB tomorrow — dive for pennies, biggest splash contest, pie eating, water balloon toss and more! Enjoy the tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts. If anyone wants to organize some volleyball games, the court is in great shape. So come up and spend the day! Prizes will be awarded.

Activities start at 1 pm.

* To be honest, our police, crossing guards, and fire fighters have been working around the clock to deal with our post-Derecho mess. I can understand why throwing an Independence Day come y’all on top of it would be a bit much.

It’s “Lost & Found Weekend” at CB.

Are you missing towels, shirts, bathing suits, shoes, etc? The guards have picked up plenty over the last month. Look for your stuff, or your kids’ stuff, at the table outside the Guard Office this weekend.

All remaining items will be donated to charity on Monday, July 2!
